An estimated 15% of all women in Europe are victims of domestic abuse on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/en\/council-of-europe\/\" title=\"Council of Europe\">Council of Europe<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, that societies in its member states do not dismiss violence against women as a peccadillo, but prosecute and punish it as a crime.<\/p>\n<p>The Council of Europe&#8217;s <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/en\/instruments\/campaigns\/\" title=\"Campaigns\">campaign<\/a><\/em><\/strong> <em>Stop Domestic Violence against Women<\/em> involved more than 40 member states and was part of the organisation&#8217;s continuous fight against all forms of violence against women.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Council of Europe Convention<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>In 2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/en\/treaties_and_monitoring\/violence-against-women\/\" title=\"Combating Violence against Women \u2013 and GREVIO\"><em><strong>Convention on preventing and combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence<\/strong><\/em><\/a> entered into force.
