The ECML is based in Graz\/Austria and counts more than 30 member states today.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Mission <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In its Resolutions (94)10 and (98) 11, the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/en\/structure\/committee-of-ministers\/\">Committee of Ministers<\/a><\/em><\/strong> of the Council of Europe has stated the ECML&#8217;s mission as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide training of teacher trainers, authors of textbooks and experts in the area of the development of curricula, educational standards and methods of evaluation<\/li>\n<li>bring together researchers and policy makers from all over Europe<\/li>\n<li>facilitate exchange of information, innovation and research for the learning and teaching of modern languages<\/li>\n<li>assist member states with the implementation of language policies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Programme and expertise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ECML initiates and coordinates 4-year programmes focusing on key educational issues requiring action. Each programme is determined by the ECML&#8217;s member states and reflects national priorities in language education. The programme provides the framework for innovative projects and activities in the Centre&#8217;s areas of expertise, which are:<br \/>\n&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Language education for migrants<\/li>\n<li>Signed languages<\/li>\n<li>Plurilingual education<\/li>\n<li>New media in language education<\/li>\n<li>Mobility and intercultural learning<\/li>\n<li>Evaluation and assessment<\/li>\n<li>Languages and employment<\/li>\n<li>Early language learning<\/li>\n<li>Language integrated learning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ECML-Graz-Building.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7337\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ECML-Graz-Building.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ECML-Graz-Building.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ECML-Graz-Building-160x107.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>The ECML provides consultancy to the policy makers in its member states, assisting them in bringing language education policies and practices together. It has set up a contact point in each of its member states and serves as Europe&#8217;s largest platform for all those involved in language education, i.e. ministry representatives, researchers, inspectors, education administrators, teachers, teacher trainers, parents and community workers.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe Centre organises conferences, seminars and workshops, offers training models for teacher educators, issues publications, training kits, guidelines and examples of good practice and runs a documentation centre which provides specialists and multipliers with a wide range of teaching aids and results of research.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe ECML works closely with both the Council of Europe&#8217;s Language Policy\u00a0Unit and the Secretariat of the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europewatchdog.info\/en\/treaties_and_monitoring\/minority-languages\/\">European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages<\/a><\/em><\/strong> of the Council of Europe.
