\"\"<\/a>All though Morocco is not a member state of the Council of Europe<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, it is connected to Europe’s chief organisation for the promotion of human rights<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, democracy and the rule of law in a number of ways:<\/p>\n

Morocco was the first country to be accepted by the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly<\/a><\/em><\/strong> as \u201ePartner for Democracy\u201c in 2011, a special status created for States from neighbouring regions.<\/p>\n

Morocco has acceded to several Council of Europe treaties<\/a><\/em><\/strong> such as the Anti-doping Convention<\/a><\/em><\/strong> or the Convention on Spectator Violence<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in Sport and has signed numerous others.<\/p>\n

Morocco also participates in various enlarged partial agreements<\/a><\/em><\/strong> of the Council of Europe such as the Pompidou Group<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, the Venice Commission<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, the North-South Centre<\/a><\/em><\/strong> or the EPAS agreement on sport<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and has observer status in the European Pharmacopeia<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2014, a Council of Europe field office was opened in Rabat in order to strengthen the co-operation between the two partners.<\/p>\n
